COFOH Presents "Mother's Day" screening with director Charles Koffman in person!

May 17th, 2024 - 7pm-10pm

Colorado Festival of Horror Presents The Post-Mother’s-Day Mother’s Day Screaming…er Screening, featuring Director Charles Kaufman in-person at the Bug Theater, Friday May 17th!

Denver – Colorado Festival of Horror is salivating over the privilege of bringing out director Charles Kaufman for a post-Mother’s Day screening of his slasher satire film Mother’s Day. The event will include a Q & A with the director as well as Mother’s Day gift horror stories on Friday May 17th at 7:00pm MST, at the Bug Theater, 3654 Navajo St, Denver, CO 80211. It will be a night of bloody absurdities co-presented by Talkin’ Troma podcast.

Mother’s Day, the classic 1980 revenge slasher film about three women on a camping excursion who fall victim to two deranged murderous young men and their unhinged mother, was directed, co-written and produced by Charles Kaufman. The film contains elements of the satire, thriller, and slasher genres. Mother’s Day was co-produced by Charles’ brother, Lloyd Kaufman, and distributed by Troma Entertainment. The film has developed a cult following and has been subject to critical analysis from scholars for its subtextual commentary on consumerism and the proliferation of television in popular culture.

Charles Kaufman will be in-person at the Bug Theater to meet fans and take photos. The audience is welcome to bring their tragic home-made Mother’s day gifts and share the stories behind them.

Talkin’ Troma’s Zack Beins will host the Q & A with Charles after the screening. Inflatable machetes and coloring pages will be available.
